Biochar is a type of charcoal produced from plant materials, such as algae. When added to soil, it enhances its ability to retain water and nutrients, boosting fertility while also sequestering carbon to help combat climate change.
Our biochar is made sustainably, with positive impacts at every step of the process. It is porous, allowing soil microbes to flourish, and contains higher levels of nitrates and phosphorus compared to other sources of biochar.
We use algae at the end stages of water treatment to remove excess nitrates and phosphorus. We then separate the algae during harvest, taking the waste with it before conversion to biochar.
