Built by people who understand wastewater treatment
Engineers and operators who saw the compliance and cost pressures firsthand, and built the solution because nothing adequate existed.

Agri-food operators face tightening discharge limits and lagoon infrastructure that wasn't built to meet them. ALBON was founded in 2023 after the founding team identified the same failure repeatedly: nutrient overload, inefficient manual processes, and no commercially viable biological solution for operators who needed to retrofit rather than rebuild.
ALBON brings biological algae-based treatment to industrial scale, field-validated and advancing into paid commercial deployments. We've completed a pilot at Wiley Park with Canterbury Bankstown Council, signed a Letter of Intent for a paid dairy pilot, and received multiple Expressions of Interest from Australian meat and dairy processors.
The team building ALBON

Leads ALBON's strategic direction and system development.
John brings a background spanning aquaculture, operations, and applied biotechnology. He has managed over 200,000 litres of bioreactor systems in commercial aquaculture, developing firsthand expertise in nutrient overload and the compliance failures that no existing solution adequately addressed. He holds degrees in International Relations and Environmental Studies from the University of Sydney.

Leads ALBON's scientific and engineering development.
Andrea brings over 15 years of experience in wastewater engineering, with prior roles at Suez and Aurecon. She holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering (wastewater and algae biotechnology) with deep expertise in nutrient removal and biological treatment process design. At ALBON, she leads scientific development, biological validation and process optimisation, ensuring the system is built for consistent, large-scale industrial deployment.

Leads ALBON's operations, commercial execution, and industry engagement.
Tom brings experience in accounting, financial analytics and early-stage venture execution. He leads the operational and commercial side of ALBON, including commercial pipeline, capital strategy and deployment execution. Tom holds qualifications in accounting and business analytics from the University of Sydney and Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania.
